Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the South West Queensland ROC in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (2,611 people or 22.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,427 people or 12.2%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (971 people or 8.3%)

In combination these three industries employed 5,009 people in total or 42.9% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Regional QLD employed 4.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 15.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 5.6% in Public Administration and Safety.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the South West Queensland ROC and Regional QLD were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (22.3% compared to 4.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Health Care and Social Assistance (12.2% compared to 15.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Construction (6.6% compared to 9.6%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Public Administration and Safety (8.3% compared to 5.6%)
