Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the City of Sydney in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($25,498million or 21.3%)
- Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services ($20,602million or 17.2%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($15,454million or 12.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $61,554 million in total or 51.5% of the total local sales by total industry in the the City of Sydney.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Sydney accounted for 10.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 10.5% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services and 6.4% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the City of Sydney and Greater Sydney were:
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (10.4% compared to 21.0%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (21.3% compared to 10.9%)
