Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Tablelands in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($526 million or 31.5%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($179 million or 10.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($128 million or 7.7%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $832 million in total or 49.9% of the total imports by total industry in Tablelands.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 35.1% in Manufacturing; 10.0% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 5.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between total imports by industries in Tablelands and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Accommodation and Food Services (6.0% compared to 2.9%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (7.7% compared to 5.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (1.3% compared to 7.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (31.5% compared to 35.1%)

Emerging groups

The total imports by industries in Tablelands increased by $401.9 million between 2013/14 and 2018/19.

The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2013/14 and 2018/19 in Tablelands were for:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+$80 million)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (+$61 million)
  • Manufacturing (+$54 million)
