Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Tablelands in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($369million or 21.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($190million or 11.2%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($137million or 8.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $696 million in total or 41.0% of the total local sales by total industry in the Tablelands.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 20.2% in Construction; 7.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 1.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between local sales by industries of Tablelands and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (8.1% compared to 1.9%)
  • A larger percentage of local sales by Health Care and Social Assistance (11.2% compared to 7.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Financial and Insurance Services (2.3% compared to 5.3%)
