Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Tasmania in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (4,647 million or 17.5%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,958 million or 14.9%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (3,745 million or 14.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 12,350 million in total or 46.5% of the total exports by industry in the Tasmania.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Hobart accounted for 12.3% in Manufacturing; 18.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 4.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of Tasmania and Greater Hobart were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (14.1% compared to 4.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (7.4% compared to 14.4%)
