In the Yass Valley, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $218 million in 2022/23.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Yass Valley in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (218 million or 63.9%)
  • Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (39 million or 11.3%)
  • Manufacturing (24 million or 7.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 281 million in total or 82.3% of the total exports by industry in the the Yass Valley.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 4.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 2.3% in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services and 14.3% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Yass Valley and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (63.9% compared to 4.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.4% compared to 14.5%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (11.3% compared to 2.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (1.7% compared to 10.5%)

The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2017/18 and 2022/23 in the Yass Valley were for:
