Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Yass Valley in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($276 million or 27.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($123 million or 12.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($111 million or 10.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $510 million in total or 49.8% of the total imports by industry in the the Yass Valley.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 33.6% in Manufacturing; 9.6% in Financial and Insurance Services and 4.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Yass Valley and New South Wales were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (27.0% compared to 33.6%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (10.8% compared to 4.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1.1% compared to 6.6%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Education and Training (7.8% compared to 3.5%)

The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2016/17 and 2021/22 in the Yass Valley were for:
