Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the City of Ballarat in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($2,405million or 22.4%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($1,046million or 9.7%)
- Manufacturing ($905million or 8.4%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,355 million in total or 40.6% of the total local sales by total industry in the the City of Ballarat.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Victoria accounted for 22.8% in Construction; 7.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 7.7% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the City of Ballarat and Victoria were:
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (6.1% compared to 8.9%)
