An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Cairns in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($3,250 million or 40.9%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($939 million or 11.8%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($693 million or 8.7%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $4,882 million in total or 61.5% of the total imports by industry in the Cairns.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 33.3% in Manufacturing; 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.8% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
