In the MidCoast Council area, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $351 million in 2022/23.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the MidCoast Council area in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (351 million or 20.2%)
  • Manufacturing (309 million or 17.7%)
  • Mining (291 million or 16.7%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 950 million in total or 54.6% of the total exports by industry in the the MidCoast Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 4.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 14.3% in Manufacturing and 9.4% in Mining.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the MidCoast Council area and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (20.2% compared to 4.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.8% compared to 14.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1.8% compared to 10.0%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Accommodation and Food Services (9.9% compared to 2.4%)
