Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Southern Midlands Council area in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($92 million or 21.7%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($66 million or 15.6%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($36 million or 8.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $195 million in total or 45.9% of the total imports by industry in the Southern Midlands Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 28.8% in Manufacturing; 8.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 7.1% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of Southern Midlands Council area and Tasmania were:
