An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Gympie Regional Council in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

- Health Care and Social Assistance ($275 million or 10.0%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($275 million or 10.0%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,348 million in total or 48.9% of the total imports by industry in the the Gympie Regional Council.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 33.3% in Manufacturing; 4.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services.
