Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in West Coast Council area in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($112 million or 24.7%)
- Mining ($55 million or 12.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($42 million or 9.3%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $210 million in total or 46.1% of the total imports by industry in the West Coast Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 28.8% in Manufacturing; 6.6% in Mining and 6.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of West Coast Council area and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (12.2% compared to 6.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (24.7% compared to 28.8%)
