Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in RDA Tropical North in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2,847 million or 22.9%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (2,771 million or 22.3%)
- Mining (1,310 million or 10.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 6,928 million in total or 55.7% of the total exports by industry in the RDA Tropical North.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 9.6% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; 7.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 31.5% in Mining.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of RDA Tropical North and Queensland were:
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (10.5% compared to 31.5%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (22.3% compared to 7.8%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (22.9% compared to 9.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (9.6% compared to 15.2%)

The total total exports by industry in RDA Tropical North $increased by 1,910 million between 2017/18 and 2022/23.
The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2017/18 and 2022/23 in RDA Tropical North were for:
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+$1,196 million)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$829 million)
- Public Administration and Safety (+$273 million)
- Administrative and Support Services (+$191 million)
