Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the South West Queensland ROC in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($823 million or 24.4%)
  • Mining ($506 million or 15.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($461 million or 13.6%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,791 million in total or 53.0% of the total imports by industry in the the South West Queensland ROC.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 33.3% in Manufacturing; 9.1% in Mining and 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the South West Queensland ROC and Queensland were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (24.4% compared to 33.3%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (15.0% compared to 9.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (13.6% compared to 8.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (1.7% compared to 5.4%)
