Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the City of Adelaide in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($3,260 million or 38.4%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($1,402 million or 16.5%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($733 million or 8.6%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $5,395 million in total or 63.6% of the total imports by industry in the the City of Adelaide.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 29.7% in Manufacturing; 7.9% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 7.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the City of Adelaide and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (38.4% compared to 29.7%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (16.5% compared to 7.9%)
