Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Cook Shire in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($165 million or 33.7%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($48 million or 9.8%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($46 million or 9.5%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $260 million in total or 52.9% of the total imports by total industry in the Cook Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 39.3% in Manufacturing; 9.0% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 7.0% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries in the Cook Shire and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (7.3% compared to 3.2%)
