An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Cook Shire in 2016/17 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($164 million or 31.3%)
- Mining ($52 million or 9.9%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($48 million or 9.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $263 million in total or 50.5% of the total imports by total industry in the Cook Shire.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 36.1% in Manufacturing; 6.1% in Mining; and 6.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries in the Cook Shire and Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (9.9% compared to 6.1%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (31.3% compared to 36.1%)
