Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the City of Perth in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($5,947 million or 39.5%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($2,186 million or 14.5%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($935 million or 6.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $9,068 million in total or 60.2% of the total imports by industry in the the City of Perth.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Western Australia accounted for 26.7% in Manufacturing; 6.8% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 7.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the City of Perth and Western Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (39.5% compared to 26.7%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (5.7% compared to 17.9%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (14.5% compared to 6.8%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (4.7% compared to 9.0%)
