Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Yass Valley in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($338million or 34.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($72million or 7.3%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services ($63million or 6.4%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $474 million in total or 47.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Yass Valley.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 21.4% in Construction; 9.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 9.3% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the Yass Valley and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Construction (34.2% compared to 21.4%)
  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (6.3% compared to 1.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Financial and Insurance Services (1.5% compared to 5.5%)
