Dominant groups
Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the South East Queensland in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (285,372 people or 15.6%)
- Construction (172,088 people or 9.4%)
- Retail Trade (170,080 people or 9.3%)
In combination these three industries employed 627,540 people in total or 34.3% of the total resident workforce.
In comparison, Queensland employed 15.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.1% in Construction and 9.3% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the South East Queensland and Queensland were:
- A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1.2% compared to 2.6%)
- A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Mining (1.1% compared to 2.3%)
- A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (7.8% compared to 6.7%)
