Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Hilltops Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($362 million or 32.9%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($114 million or 10.4%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($76 million or 6.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $551 million in total or 50.2% of the total imports by industry in the the Hilltops Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in NSW accounted for 32.2% in Manufacturing; 10.4% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Hilltops Council area and NSW were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (4.9% compared to 7.0%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Wholesale Trade (6.0% compared to 4.0%)
