Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Nambucca Valley in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($279 million or 28.8%)
- Public Administration and Safety ($111 million or 11.5%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($98 million or 10.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $489 million in total or 50.5% of the total imports by industry in the the Nambucca Valley.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 31.7% in Manufacturing; 5.6% in Public Administration and Safety and 8.2% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Nambucca Valley and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (11.5% compared to 5.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (2.7% compared to 8.3%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (9.7% compared to 4.3%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (28.8% compared to 31.7%)

The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2017/18 and 2022/23 in the Nambucca Valley were for:
- Public Administration and Safety (+$35 million)

- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+$8 million)
- Education and Training (+$7 million)
