Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the City of Newcastle in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (2,999 million or 19.3%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,289 million or 14.7%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2,270 million or 14.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 7,558 million in total or 48.6% of the total exports by industry in the the City of Newcastle.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 14.3% in Manufacturing; 4.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 10.5% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the City of Newcastle and New South Wales were:
