Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the City of Newcastle in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (5,998 million or 19.7%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (4,578 million or 15.1%)
- Mining (3,839 million or 12.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 14,415 million in total or 47.5% of the total exports by industry in the the City of Newcastle.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 14.3% in Manufacturing; 4.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 9.4% in Mining.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the City of Newcastle and New South Wales were:
