An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Northern Midlands Council area in 2019/20 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (601 million or 38.1%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (560 million or 35.5%)
- Wholesale Trade (172 million or 10.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 1,333 million in total or 84.5% of the total exports by industry in the the Northern Midlands Council area.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 21.1% in Manufacturing; 15.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 2.3% in Wholesale Trade.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Northern Midlands Council area and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (35.5% compared to 15.0%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (38.1% compared to 21.1%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Health Care and Social Assistance (0.5% compared to 12.7%)
