Output by industry is a gross measure of the total sales of each industry sector in the RDA Eyre Peninsula Region. It does not measure how productive each industry sector is at producing this output - which is measured by value added.
By comparing the output of each industry sector to a regional benchmark, you can clearly see the structure of the RDA Eyre Peninsula Region’s economy. This can be done by directly comparing the percentage contribution of each industry to the total output, relative to the benchmark, or by using a location quotient, where a number greater than one indicates a high concentration of that industry and less than one indicates a lower concentration.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the output by industry sectors in the RDA Eyre Peninsula Region in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,614 million or 20.2%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($1,430 million or 17.9%)
- Construction ($1,376 million or 17.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,420 million in total or 55.2% of the total output by total industry in the the RDA Eyre Peninsula Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 11.3% in Manufacturing; 5.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 14.8% in Construction.
The major differences between output by industries of the RDA Eyre Peninsula Region and South Australia were:
- A larger percentage of output by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (17.9% compared to 5.9%)
- A larger percentage of output by Manufacturing (20.2% compared to 11.3%)
- A larger percentage of output by Mining (11.5% compared to 5.4%)
- A smaller percentage of output by Financial and Insurance Services (2.0% compared to 6.3%)
