An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Gunnedah Shire in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction (111 people or 15.5%)
- Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (77 people or 10.8%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (55 people or 7.7%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $242 million in total or 34.0% of the total local sales by total industry in the Gunnedah Shire.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 17.1% in Construction; 20.8% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; and 1.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.
The major differences between local sales by industries in the Gunnedah Shire and New South Wales were:
