Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Gunnedah Shire in 2016/17 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (122 people or 14.9%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (105 people or 12.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (92 people or 11.2%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $318 million in total or 38.8% of the total local sales by total industry in the Gunnedah Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 17.2% in Construction; 20.0% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; and 2.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the Gunnedah Shire and New South Wales were:
