In RDA BGLAP Region, Manufacturing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $1,130 million in 2021/22.

Exports by industry are sales of goods and services to non-resident households, businesses and other organisations, outside RDA BGLAP Region boundaries. Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in RDA BGLAP Region in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (1,130 million or 42.1%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (856 million or 31.9%)
  • Retail Trade (95 million or 3.5%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 2,081 million in total or 77.5% of the total exports by industry in the RDA BGLAP Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 18.6% in Manufacturing; 14.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 3.6% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of RDA BGLAP Region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (42.1% compared to 18.6%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (31.9% compared to 14.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.2% compared to 8.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.4% compared to 8.3%)

The total total exports by industry in RDA BGLAP Region $increased by 160 million between 2016/17 and 2021/22.

The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2016/17 and 2021/22 in RDA BGLAP Region were for:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$402 million)
  • Mining (+$54 million)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+$49 million)
  • Wholesale Trade (+$29 million)
