Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the City of Perth in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,414 people or 14.5%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (2,162 people or 12.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,080 people or 12.5%)

In combination these three industries employed 6,656 people in total or 39.9% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Western Australia employed 6.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 6.5% in Accommodation and Food Services and 13.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the City of Perth and Western Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (14.5% compared to 6.9%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Accommodation and Food Services (12.9% compared to 6.5%)
