Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($609million or 16.5%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($498million or 13.5%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services ($401million or 10.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,507 million in total or 40.8% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Limestone Coast region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 22.8% in Construction; 2.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 12.7% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (13.5% compared to 2.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (16.5% compared to 22.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3.7% compared to 6.6%)
