Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($969million or 22.0%)
  • Construction ($907million or 20.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($336million or 7.6%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $2,212 million in total or 50.2% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Limestone Coast region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 4.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 24.1% in Construction and 7.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (22.0% compared to 4.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2.3% compared to 6.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (0.2% compared to 3.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (20.6% compared to 24.1%)
