Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($870million or 20.2%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($697million or 16.2%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($380million or 8.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,946 million in total or 45.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Limestone Coast region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 24.2% in Construction; 2.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 7.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (16.2% compared to 2.4%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (0.1% compared to 6.1%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (20.2% compared to 24.2%)

The largest changes in the local sales by industries between 2017/18 and 2022/23 in the Limestone Coast region were for:
- Construction (+$140 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$70 million)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$62 million)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (-$31 million)
