Management and Commerce is the most common qualification for workers in the Riverina and Murray Region.

Field of Qualification presents the primary field of study for the highest qualification the person has received. While this is likely to have some relationship to the current occupation, this is not necessarily the case.

The field of study relates to a number of factors, such as:

  • The age of the workforce;
  • The type of qualification required to enter an industry;

Dominant groups

Analysis of the fields of qualifications of the All industries shows that the three largest fields of qualification were:

  • Management and Commerce (8,510 people or 12.3%)
  • Engineering and Related Technologies (7,017 people or 10.1%)
  • Health (5,536 people or 8.0%)

In combination these three fields accounted for 21,063 people in total or30.3% of All industries.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 18.3% in Management and Commerce; 10.0% in Engineering and Related Technologies and 8.0% in Health.

The major differences between the fields of qualifications of the workforce in Riverina and Murray Region and New South Wales were:

  • A smaller percentage of local workers qualified in the field of Management and Commerce (12.3% compared to 18.3%)
  • A larger percentage of local workers qualified in the field of Agriculture, Environmental and Related Studies (4.1% compared to 1.5%)
