Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the All industries workforce in the Riverina and Murray Region in 2021shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Managers (10,955 local workers or 15.8%)
  • Professionals (10,869 local workers or 15.6%)
  • Labourers (9,475 local workers or 13.6%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 31,299 people in total or 45.1% of the All industries local workers.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 14.6% as Managers; 25.9% as Professionals and 8.2% as Labourers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the workforce in the Riverina and Murray Region and New South Wales were:

  • A smaller percentage of local workers employed as Professionals (15.6% compared to 25.9%)
