An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Townsville City Council in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:

- Health Care and Social Assistance ($1,646million or 8.8%)
- Manufacturing ($1,531million or 8.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $6,870 million in total or 36.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Townsville City Council.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 20.2% in Construction; 7.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 7.7% in Manufacturing.
