Note: Census employment figures are known to undercount employment by varying amounts depending on the Census year. All Census counts are an undercount of total population, and in addition, some people don’t state their workforce status or industry. Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the local workers in North Sydney Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (22,782 people or 28.2%)
- Information Media and Telecommunications (8,570 people or 10.6%)
- Financial and Insurance Services (8,107 people or 10.0%)
In combination these three fields accounted for 39,459 people in total or 48.9% of the local workers.
In comparison, New South Wales employed 8.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 1.9% in Information Media and Telecommunications and 5.3% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between the jobs held by local workers of North Sydney Council area and New South Wales were:
