An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Ballina Shire in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (214 million or 19.4%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (167 million or 15.1%)
  • Retail Trade (125 million or 11.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 506 million in total or 45.8% of the total exports by industry in the Ballina Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 4.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 2.4% in Accommodation and Food Services and 2.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of Ballina Shire and New South Wales were:
