Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the Northern Beaches Council area in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (17,114 people or 13.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (13,922 people or 10.7%)
  • Retail Trade (11,820 people or 9.1%)

In combination these three industries employed 42,856 people in total or 33.0% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 8.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 9.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Northern Beaches Council area and New South Wales were:
