Exports (domestic) include all exports from the area to other parts of Australia. Exports (international) includes all exports from the Region to countries outside Australia.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Regional RDAs in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (10,095 million or 40.9%)
- Manufacturing (6,449 million or 26.1%)
- Mining (3,252 million or 13.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 19,796 million in total or 80.1% of the total exports by industry in the Regional RDAs.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 11.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 19.1% in Manufacturing and 4.4% in Mining.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of Regional RDAs and South Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (40.9% compared to 11.4%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Mining (13.2% compared to 4.4%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.5% compared to 8.5%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (26.1% compared to 19.1%)
Emerging groups
The total total exports by industry in Regional RDAs $increased by 1,947 million between 2017/18 and 2022/23.
The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2017/18 and 2022/23 in Regional RDAs were for:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$1,909 million)
- Retail Trade (+$293 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$188 million)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+$93 million)
